Relatively straightforward run back from Cumbria, only a minor hold-up through some roadworks where it was clear there had been a shunt a little while before. Under 4 hours for the 250 miles.

We'd arranged to meet our good friends Mika & Gillian and their daughters Emily and Sophie for a meal at La Piazza, near Charing Cross Station this evening. Only one problem - major signalling upset on the line between Potters Bar and Kings Cross cancelled most trains. We went by car to Cockfosters - outrageous parking charge for off-peak - £5.
Great meal and Sophie kindly posed for a few minutes to catch a sketch
